Off-center front license plate?

I live in a province requiring the front plate to be attached. I did however see some japanese cars with the plate off center... just wondering how they were attached... and if anyone has any pics, that would be greatly appreciated.

I had mine in the window until I got a written warning for it. But I dont feel like drilling holes either. You could get a bracket that attaches to the black cover under the engine. I had one but it could its *** kicked by my driveway. Right now I have it zip tied onto the front bumper, looks ghetto and alittle crooked, but no holes drilled.

Sorry no pics.

Have you looked closely at how the stock brackets mount up? Maybe just shift the holes over to the side and mount it up..

i once saw this classic 30s hotrod, it had a license plate mounted on the front, except the whole thing was cut except for the numbers. So it was just a little piece a few inches high. Looked really neat. Not sure on the legality of that though.

Here in Ohio it's required that the front license plate be displayed. However, I've never put the front plate on any of my RX-7s, and I've never been pulled over for not doing so.

A long time ago, I did find a ticket on the windshield of my Saab for $14 for not having a front plate on. $14? Big F'in deal...that's pocket change.

Front plates are ugly and ruin the lines of a car. I'll never install them.

the factory mount bolts into pre drilled holes that already exist on your car. It is like 30 bux CDN at the dealership. Mounts so that it is out of the way of the air opening

naw i have these really thick stainless brackets already. Unfortunately, they interfere with cooling... but i don't want to mount my plate in the ugly stock fashion. I want it offset like the JDM 7's... and I do NOT want to drill holes in my bumper.

well when you figure it out, can you let me know cuz I agree, the stock location is ugly. just it doesn't interfere with cooling and you don't have to drill. But the side mount would probably look better

cusco makes a braket that mounts to the underside of the bumper. It probably would't be to hard to make.

Most are simply screwed straight into the bumper. If you don't want to make holes in the front of the bumper, it'd be pretty simple to make a bracket that screws to the underside instead.

yeah.. looks like someone screwed right through into the bumper. I'd say it would look better with some brackets, even if it were in the middle

I think the holes where the stock one bolts onto (undeneath bumber) are the same space apart, and you could just shift it over. I preder symetric though and like the look.

I think I'd rather not drive my FC, than have to drive it with a front plate.. That sucks..

It probably has a bracket. I guess they did out of the factory. My car was originally an Iowa car, and I'm guessing they had front plates there because it had the bracket on it when I got it. I took it off.

My Plate sits off centre too. Right up there on top of the Dashboard. It's been like that from when I accidently noticed my car running cooler almost 4yrs ago like this.

Make a bracket, just take the stock one and weld a piece so that is move to the right/left. Then bolt it to the stock local, if made right no other holes needed. just my thought.

Depends on your location.

Most places have a rule that the plate can't be obstructed by anything, wether it be transparent or not.

This means clear tinted license plate covers or behind a windshield are not acceptable.

I know we already had someone chime in from Ohio, but I figured I would too.

It is required in ohio, however, none of my four mazdas have it on (removed the brackets even) I have heard that it is leagal in ohio to have it in the window, as long is it's within 36" from the ground...I guess that's so the cops don't have to strain their neck if you have a high lifted truck, or something. I've been warned in my old camry, but I didn't even know it had fallen off at the time...

but yeah, I don't think anyone likes the front plate, but I may actually put mine on my FC when I get it, just because that car will draw enough unwanted attaintion as is...I don't need anything intentional, ya know?
