Lightbulb off car compression test

If I turn the engine "off car" by hand I should hear 6 compressions in one turn right?

wrong. one revolution of the crank rotates each rotor 1/3 of a full revolution. So you should only heard 2 hisses.

OR you could just hook it up to a tranny with starter and do a better test with a gauge.
