CA Oem Spring differences?

i went to the junk yard to pick up some front oem springs for my 1988 gxl na.

the new springs i bought were off a 1987 **, not sure of the sub model. (car had a spoiler and aluminum hood, NA.)

but the springs i got look different. there is one more wound coil. 6 coils instead of 5 from my gxl.

are there different oem springs? and what would be the spring rate on the gxl 5 coils vs the 6 coils from the 87.

also after installing them the car sits a 1/2 inch lower in the front. and the ride up front seems stiffer.

thoughts?
maybe sport tuned?
pictures would be great to show differences.

There are two different front springs for the S4 models.

The standard duty units (found on Base/SE/Luxury and GXL models), and the heavy duty (found on the Sport, 88 GTU, 88 Convertible and the Turbo).

You probably found a Sport or GTU.
