OEM fuel pump whine

OEM fuel pump whine
Searched about 8 pages with no results directly related to my issue. Car is an 88 NA with standalone, etc. I'm getting a distinct whine from the fuel pump when the car is running. I've verified fuel pressure on my FPR gauge to be at 40psi. I've also unplugged my speakers to ensure it wasn't electrical interference I was hearing. I should also mention that I previously completed the fuel pump rewire per Arghx's instructions and my fuel filter was replaced around 1 year ago.
I'm pretty sure the fuel pump in the car is the original pump the car came with from the factory lol.
Why would the fuel pump be whining if I'm still getting the appropriate amount of pressure? Wouldn't this indicate that the fuel filter isn't clogged or impeding flow? Is this simply a case of the OEM pump finally going bad? I just want to be sure before I drop a bunch of money on something that may not solve the issue.
If the problem is the fuel pump, what are some decent pump alternatives and sources? I don't need a walbro as this car will only see 250whp at the most and I'd prefer the pump to be quiet. I was thinking of swapping to a t2 pump.

weird the factory pump is usually really quiet. one possibility is that the sock filter on the pump is clogged/bad. in any case a new t2 pump should be quite affordable...

It's possible that the pump was not fully submerged often.
This would allow the pump to heat up and then deteriorate to the point where it now makes noise.
If you feel the pump is going,I see you have it out.
Why not just change it now?

I've now disconnected all electronics to the rear of the car and will verify if I'm still hearing it from the pump.

i would yank one out of any v6 import in the junkyard. last time i think i took a toyota avalon. it was 20 bucks. but it got me back home without having to wait for shipping!!
seriously , it's an N/a ...any 300hp car that is fuel injected will have a good enough pump to rob. you could go with a ls430 pump from the you pull it.. or if you want to go new just go turbo/ third gen pump. (which will have to be shipped) OR find out which is cheap and available at your local advanced auto for import v8s( nissan q45, lexus ls460..) and have a new pump TODAY. most my customers can't wait so it's been rubbing off on me.

So I started the car this morning and it wouldn't hold idle until I warmed it up. Then it sounded like it was running on one rotor and kept backfiring like crazy.
I bit the bullet and replaced my fuel pump with a brand new t2 unit and filter, I also upped the factory wiring to 12 guage. Reinstalled and the car still ran like crap. I've visually verified spark to all 4 plugs and compression tested the car like 2 weeks ago. I'll compression test it tomorrow, too.
Could my fpr be bad? I don't think this could cause the issues that I'm having but something my fuel pressure bleeds off early as soon as the car is shut off. I guess the next step is to pull my injectors and make sure they're both working. They're brand new so I'd hope so.
