Odd question, installed aftermarket temp guage
Alright so I figured the sensor in the thermostat housing was the temp sensor... guess i was mistaken. So the question lies if I remove that sensor am I looking at any problems? I ask this because when reading the fsm it seemed that it was only necessary for the electric fan. I have an 87 GXL auto. If its for an electric radiator fan, i don't have one lol. If its for the cooler fan, its running anyway.. :-\
Thanks
Thanks

I believe the thermoswitch located on the thermostat cover is related to use of the stock electrical fan.
I do not recommend mounting a water temp sensor there.
It is downsteam of the thermostat, so if the thermostat does fail (which is common), your water temp sensor will still think the system is cold.
It is recommended to mount a water temp sensor under the thermostat...

Oh ok, I didn't realize. Thanks I'll switch that out. The thermo sensor that was there is pretty beat up so I'm going to purchase a new one and move the sensor to were the temp sensor is. Confused me originally because I couldn't figure out why the stock gauge was still working so I checked the FSM lol tyvm
~edit~
Question then, how would be the easiest way to go about taking the original water temp sensor out? I can't see a good way without taking a good amount apart. From experience with other cars, if it's not a problem don't take it apart because more than likely one will arise lol. TY again
