Occasional Engine Sputter

This morning I decided to drive the 90 Vert to the office, roughly a 20-mile commute. About 12 miles down the interstate, while cruising at 70 mph, the engine sort of cut out or sputtered briefly. The check engine light flashed on breifly. I drove a little further and it did it again. There was no regular pattern to the sputtering but it definitely felt like the engine was cutting out or something. All told it probably did this about 6-8 times over an eight mile stretch of the road.

My first thought is possibly a clogged fuel filter that is screwing up the fuel flow. I did a search and saw some folks with a somewhat similar issue who replaced their OMP.

Any thoughts on where to look?

Thanks!

That could be a possibility. Also check your coils.
