Installed rtek 1.0 for my s5.. and botched it..
Got my ecu, got my rtek chip.
Desolder desolder desolder.
Solder solder solder.
Put it in the car and turn the key to on.
Crazy clicking noises.
Injectors are firing, solinoids are clicking, and my tach is bouncing..
Check trailing plugs; they are firing.
Look at the ecu.. my friend f-d up the solder after saying he could do it.
So.. I desolder and resolder it all.
Clicking is gone.
Start it up.
No smoke, no burnt spots on the ecu.
Won't stay running on its own and runs like crap.
CEL is also on... Is that normal?
I'm going to pull the ecu in a few and see if I missed anything...
Figure somebody might have advice; other than to take it to a professional.
Only learn by trial and error..

There are too many potential things that could have gone wrong to say. Two things that come to mind. My first soldering attempt was to repair wiper switches. I made the mistake of ******* up the circuit board by getting it to hot during desolder. I pulled the copper off of the circuit board. Another potential problem...make sure soldier didn't get on the board and create current between things that should not have conducted current.

I know it really sounds stupid; espc. since I'm broke.
But I wanted to try it and learn.
I will probably buy 2 used ecu's now so I've got one for the car and one to send to get chipped.
