obd code 17 and 34

i have an 89 TII i keep getting two codes one is the code for the bac which ill try cleaning it at a later date not a big deal. the other is an O2 sensor code something about voltage not being about a cetain voltage after so many seconds or somthing like that. one is code 17 the other is code 34. any one have experience with the o2 sensor code. the o2 sensor i have in it is about 3 months old.

Might not be the sensor as the O2 wire is extremely small in diameter and will have the propensity to break inside the harness. Take an ohm meter and check for continuity between the O2 connection and the ecu. If no current you can backtrack the wiring harness, but if you find the break, it is a shielded cable and after the break is repaired, it cannot be grounded in any way. You’ll see the layers covering the wire and the braided shield cannot touch the wire in any way or it will ground the signal. Years ago mine broke about a foot into the harness after an engine replacement.
Some have cut the wire, ran a new wire from the O2 sensor through the firewall directly into the ecu.

I believe the o2 sensor will throw a code if the engine is cold. If it throws a code when warmed up that is different.

there is a test in the FSM to see how fast the O2 sensor is switching, if it's dead then i would suspect that the wires are frayed and grounding out on the shielding wires inside the harness(pretty common in turbo harnesses).
