O2 sensor selections?

What is the differance between a 1-wire and a 4-wire O2 sensor? Don't they both stop reading around 14.7:1 ? I know a wide-band will read more accuratly but will not work with factory ecu (or so I read doing a google search). Will i see a improvment with a 4-wire or is it a wast of money?

I did find a 4-wire sensor @ www.partsamerica.com botsch #13275 for $34.99 (think it's for a FORD but I say cut the plug, it's cheaper then the universal)

On a stock ECU, there is no reason to run a 4 wire....The generic single wire Bosch sensor is fine...

The Ford 4 wire will work fine if you mangle the wiring harness.

Get the universal Bosch one. Like Aaron said....stock ECU cannot use the 4 wire. Now if you had a standalone....

cannot use it because it sends different voltages @ same air/fuel ratios? Or cannot use it because the stock ECU doesn't bother with EXTREMELY rich/lean mixtures that the 4-wire would be able to read (and the stock O2 sensor can't)

i am interested in this 02 sensor option thing as well. my problem is a little different though. i think keep burning them up. i run a header, and when i remove them they are almost white, just like a healthy o2 sensor, but the ecu keeps throwing a code every 3 or 4 k miles. is there a more robust option for a sensor? the bosch ones from autozone just dont last for me.
