o2 sensor

im in the middle of trying to get my o2 sensor loose, its stuck pretty good, anyway, the wire was never really attached very well (just tied together with some tape) so i unhooked it and just for fun tried starting it up, but nothing, is it nessecery to have the o2 sensor hooked up for the car to start or am i looking at some other problems?? it was running fine before i started to work on it, so im assuming that thats the problem, but im not 100%, thanks!

You don't need the O2 sensor for anything except a little bit better emissions & mpg. Your car can run perfectly fine without one or with it disconnected.
