I don't think we have a "check engine" light, do we?

If your car is an s4, there will be no check engine light that comes on.....our cars(from 86-88) do not store codes in the computer, so the only way you would see anything is to scan the computer while the car is running. Aside from that, if it has been a while or you never changed it before, I say just get a new O2 sensor..only like 35 bucks from Autozone and takes just a few minutes to do it.

EDIT--sorry man....just saw yours is an 89....anyway, I would scan the ECU then. If it shows any codes, let us know.

the only time the O2 sensor is working is while your cruising. IAll FC"s run rich to keep away from detonation.
