Nuts on a stock turbo?

How the hell did any of you manage to get at that top left nut? I cant get at it with any sort of tool from the top or bottom to tight it up... Suggestions?

I take it you're talking about the turbo to manifold one, right?
I use a combo wrench (open end/box end) to loosen it first - box end first, then use the open end after it's loosen.&nbsp I usually go under the car to get this one off...

It was a bitch but between open-end wrenches and sockets you can get it. Just have persistence.

I used a rachet to get that one off. It consisted of a 3" extension attached to a swivel and then a 10" extension. I lay under the car and let the extensions kinda follow the exhaust up to it, if ya know what I mean. Its tricky but easy once you do it a couple of times.

I bought a cheap open ended wrench and then cut it down to about 4 inches. Then used a hammer and drift. However, my turbo is not in the location of a stock TII unit, so you probably can't do this with the manifold in the way.

Ah, the downpipe bolts...

I have a special 36" extension with a u-joint and socket.&nbsp I go under the car from the passenger side and easily get those nuts off.

I do it from the top. You kinda have to get used to doing it a lot. I've done it at least 20 times. But my way is blind and you have to rely on the feel of your fingers. Socket wrench with a 3" extension and the socket. Works for me this way. Had no problem yet.

Yeah, I used an extension and an universial. Make sure you use plenty of anti seize on those studs when you put things back together. IF for any reason you have to take it back off you will appreciate that advice!

Having ABS makes getting at the turbo a PITA. So if you don't be greatful!

would the turbo be spooling? 'cuz man, that'd hurt like hell... well, I suppose you could put up with it as long as your running under 2-3 psi.

time for a nap!

hahaha...I remember when I put on my dp/mp and I saw that nut...I was thinking, oh ****. Really it's not that much of a bitch. I think the best way to get at it is with some extensions on a ratchet and a nice swivel
