Nothing but Heat from the HVAC

Its summer and I think my A/C is kaput no biggie, I can recharge that if needed. But here is the weird thing. When I turn on the fan and set the temp to max cold it blows really really hot air and then after a while may blow cold air then go back to really really hot air.

Any ideas???? I have a 87 RX7 BTW.

Is that expensive and if it is not really expensive is that easy to replace?

hmmm...logicion might be fine

I would check the servo that switches the flow of air through the heater core. Its located on the drivers side and can be accesse without taking anything apart. Simply get a flashlight and lay down by your pedals and look up under the center of the dash....have a friend (or if you can reach it) switch itfrom hot to cold and make sure that the actuator moves all the way over and all the way back.
