nirtous is perfectly safe if you can provide enough fuel for the amount of nitrous you are injecting. I recomend a wet system (one that injects more fuel along with the nitrous). "Nitrous Express" makes good systems. They have a system just for the FC Turbo and N/A and the FD, both are wet i believe.
Yes "NOS" nitrous systems are more old school but have been in the business a really long time and do make systems for new generation cars.
Make sure you have a location you can refill the bottle. It isn't very expensive to refill a 10lb bottle something like 40 bucks around here. A 5 lb bottle will last many (ie 10 or so) 1/4 mile passes on most street cars. All depends on how big of a system you use.

If your wondering what it does. It just cools down the air making it more dense so more air can fit in the same space. Thats why you need more gas. You got more air you need more gas to keep the same air/fuel ratio. The nirtous itself doesn't burn like gasoline, it just helps get more air into your engine. More air and gas = more hp. Of course more air and fuel = bigger explosion = more heat.

Nitrous Oxide is N2O.
When it runs through the intake manifold it acts a coolant. It cools the air, and makes it more dense, so a larger amount of air will fit in the same volume under the same pressure. When the N2O burns, it releases O2, which then supports more combustion. The reaction for burning N2O is:
2(N2O) = 2(N2) + O2
because the colder air is more dense, and the combustion of N2O releases more O2, you must be sure to supply enough fuel (preferably 91+ octane) to keep the engine from running lean. Running lean is the number reason for killing high hp rotaries.
Always go with the wet system for injecting N2O

are you from texas??? it does just cool down the air it is a higher consentration of oxygen being cold is a upside but is only a by product of expanding gases.

Nitrous oxide on an N/A will not pose any huge problems on a car, provided it is set up and jetted properly. Keep in mind you can't just throw in 1000 hp of N2O, I think the generally-agreed limit for stock ports is 80 Hp, and that is with a wet system if you are using the stock fuel system.
a 50 hp jetting of nitrous on a 10lb bottle will last you 3 mins, but you should never get over 15 secs on the button, as a rule of thumb. a 100 hp jetting on the same bottle will last 1.5 mins.
And about your last comment.... relax. He wasn't talking to you, so why freak?

wow, I'm impressed, a guy apologising. You're much bigger than I am, let me say. Admirable to say the least.
Get some sleep. Car work while tired never works out well. (Although I have swapped a few engines in some over nighters.)
As for big power... (I can tell from your other threads). Get it ported, add an intake, add some exhaust, and add a cltuch, and nitrous. The rest will add small anmounts, and will come with time, such as the requirement for a tII drivetrain (that'll happen pretty soon, especially with nitrous), intake porting, 6 pi removal, and TB mod.
We should hook up, I can show you all the easy stuff to do to your car, and I'm good and close.
