I'm currently building an 88 RX-7 but I have very little knowledge of the car. I have a few questions. How much does an 88 convertable weigh? Does any one have pics of a rollbar installed in a convert? Does anyone have pics of the under body with a 5-speed? What size rear end in stock(7.5, 8.8, 12 bolt, etc) and what gearing is stock? What's the biggest intercooler that will fit? Thanks!

Is this going to be a street car and/or a track car?

(as found in the options and standard features thread at the top of the section)

The 88 convertible offically weighs 3003 lbs although everyone I have ever weighed actually weighed between 2860 and 2970 lbs (depending on options and how full of fluids).

again (as covered in the options and standard features thread at the top of the section) The 88 convertible came with the 3.9 ratio and standard non turbo 7 inch gear rear end.

It is a NA convertable and it is going to be a street car. I haven't seen too many of these cars and I kind of like the stance. I'm asking for pics because I don't know how things fit in the 2 seaters(ex:rollbar). Some of you may hate me for this, but I'm not planning on using the RX-7 motor, Tranny, or rear end. I currently have a 86 mustang street/strip car. It's pretty quick but it's not a looker and plus I see them everywhere. I'm thinking of dropping my turbo 342 stroker into the much lighter and more arrow dynamic RX-7. I currently run a best of 11.22@120 with 5psi, no drag radials, no intercooler, and no race gas. I'm hoping to go low 9's in street trim with 20psi and an intercooler and a lighter car.
