Noob question regard emission stuffs.

I'm slowly removing the emission stuffs off my 86 NA 1 by 1, but I remember some one told me that once I get a point, which I will have to start to pre mix my fuel....is that true? this is my daily driver/ AutoX car, so I really don't want to pre mix...

so first of all, can anyone confirm that? if so anyway to avoid it? Thanks

As long as you leave the MOP (metering oil pump - on the front housing - oil lines going to 4 injectors) in place, you won't have to lubricate with premix.

You also need to keep the vent lines to those injectors connected.

I wasn't aware that the metering oil pump was part of the emissions system. As far as I knew it squirted oil into the combustion chamber to cool and lubricate the the internals that are exposed to the combustion. Our engines actually are supposed to burn oil.

Maybe you should spend some time researching the components you plan to remove. This is one of those things that people tend to do because they heard someone else say it was cool but removing the MOP will do nothing for you pefformance wise and they hardly ever fail so it's not really an issue of preventive maintenance.

When reoving the emissions people tend to start removing alot of thinsg that they don;'t have to and it will often result in having a car that won't idle when cold, idles at 1500rpm when warm, needs everytank of gas to be doesed with 2 stroke oil and basically become a hassle as a daily driver, all for the appeal of a "race car".

Don't get me wrong, I am removing some of my emissions related components on my TII, but I already had straight exhaust (no catalytic converter) so the majority of the emissions system was already useless or being grossly counter balanced.

The other key thing for me is that I will not be removing anything I can find a block off plate for, I plan on keeping my bypass air control valve, air bypass solenoid valve, air supply valve, metering oil pump and thermowax unit. These are the devices that I have deemed essential for my use of the car, your needs may vary.

I'm just suggesting to read some emissions removal threads, search "Emissions Removal", get familiar with what your planning on removing and see if you can justify actually removing it. At least your on the right track looking around here. Hope that helps some.

without the airpump in your S4 you won't have working auxilary ports. You wiring them open or what?

why are you removing all that crap anyways?? 3/4 of the people that do it post problems afterwards and the gains seem mediocre when compared to the work and possible future issues.

Doesn't the aux ports work off the exhaust backpressure? The only reason is to get it out of the way. Do you think it's better to leave it on?

The S4 auxiliary ports don't work off the airpump.

BUT, I will agree that removing them is just a pain. I have mine removed and wish I didn't.

you're right, I got them mixed up. The S5 needs the air pump, no the S4. good catch.
