noob question

i just got a t2 and i've always been confused about what the differences are between a wastegate and blow off valve...or are they just the same thing? someone wanna fill me in on this one.

A turbo has two sides. Hot and Cold side. A wastegate releases exhaust gases (hot side), while a BOV releases Air that would otherwise go into the motor when not required (cold side).

^ BOV is important to keep pressure from backing up on the vold side and bogging the turbo down, so it vents to allow the turbo to stay spooled so you dont drop too much between shifts
