noob i need some help...
Ok, i just got my first rx7, its a 86 gxl. My problem is i think the clutch isnt engaging. I can start the car just fine, but when i put it in gear, and let the clutch go, its not going anywhere. So my question is, is it my clutch or something else? im planning on pulling out the tranny as soon as i can to check if it is the clutch. But i thought i could get some opinions from u guys first before i do anything else. thanks..

Its probably the clutch. but obviously you wanna make sure you have fluid in the resevoir, make sure that the system is bled properly and that the slave cylinder is properly adjusted before you rip you're tranny out. also make sure there are no leaks.

The hydraulics just push the clutch and pressure plate away from eachother, so bad hyraulics should mean you couldn't start.
I don't see how a clutch could not move you at some point - even metal on metal has got the grip sometime I would think - unless you just like shattered it - any bad shifts or huge drops recently? Was it slipping before?
I'd almost say your transmission isnt actually going into gear, listen for it, maybe the linkage from the upper stalk is cracked or something.

Have someone work the clutch pedal while you look to see if the clutch slave cylinder rod is moving. The slave cylinder is located on the bell housing at the rear of the engine on the drivers side. You may need a flashlight to see it. If the rod moves and works the clutch arm when the clutch pedal us worked, the problem is internal to the transmission or clutch. If the rod doesn't move, make sure you have fluid in the clutch master cylinder and that the system is bled of air. Get the factory service manual (link to the FSM is in the FC FAQ at the top of this section of the forum) to see what I'm referring to and also for instructions on how to bleed the clutch hydraulic system.

well i decided to pull out the tranny anyways, since i probably have to pull it out anyways. In the process of taking the shifter off, when i pulled out the shifter, i think theres suppose to be bushings there or something, i only saw a couple pieces left. Does this mean i have to get a new shift kit or could i get like the certain bushing that used to be there. Basically all the bushings and other stuff thats suppose to be there arent there anymore. Any tips, should i just get the kit? or is there a better option than this? By the way, im totally new with the rotarys so i need lots of help. Thanks
