noob, help please, 85 injectors in an 87

hello all,
this is my first post on any forum ever. I just got my first rx7, i love it. I'll make this short and to the point. A friend of mine hooked me up with some '85 2ndary injectors. He says more flow, (had them cleaned today, great flow, good spray pattern), I put them in and the car wants to bog down over 3900 rpm. No power. my car is a '87. Runs great with stock injectors. Any ideas?
Does the computer need to "learn" for a few starts first?
Any help would be great. Car is stock otherwise.
thank you
I did a search, but could not find this problem.

Especially for an N/A vehicle. Holy cow! Those are 680 cc injectors. My TII doesnt even push that much fuel!

You do not need bigger injectors! Who ever told you that you needed to should never be listened to again regarding EFI modification.

The ECU had no idea the injectors were bigger so was injecting huge amounts of fuel. Rich mixtures will kill power (as you noticed), and these cars already run very rich under load. You'll actually make more power by runner leaner.

Concentrate on airflow mods. You won't need to worry about more fuel until you're making a lot more power than stock.

Sorry guys, can't focus on selling 'em now. I put the stock injectors back in and now no power, but it is different this time. Still speeds up, but very slowly. Sounds like I have a huge exhaust leak all of a sudden, can't fine it though. While the stock injectors were being cleaned, I had the car up on stands and cleaned everything off underneath the car. Could this have exposed a leak? Or did those other injectors do some harm? I put everything back on properly. thanx
could my plugs be fouled? (to dark to check and late)

Three questions...
1. Does it start fast and nice?
2. Does the car idle OK?
3. Is it slow from the start or after 3,800?

Maybe you killed your cat running so rich like that and clogged it up.

wow, right on guys, took of the midpipe and ramrodded everything out, car runs great. BUT only exhaust coming out of right muffler, drivers side is cold. Guess that I will be taking off the rest of the exhaust tomorrow.
Huge chucks came out of midpipe (not to mention the honeycomb)

yes, thanx Sonic
I replaced my y-pipe today. Car runs better than ever.
Should I get some better mufflers? Not a lot of money for improvements, but I am starting to become very fond of this car. I love the amount of information available on this site!!
