Noob Clutch Question

I noticed in fit checking the flywheel, disk and pressure plate there is a small gap. The gap is between the pressure plate and flywheel when components are stacked without any bolts being installed. Gap is like 1/4 inch all the way around. Is this normal so that when pressure plate bolts are installed it'll pull the pressure plate in??

I have a basic Exedy clutch kit I got from Mazda for 90 convertible, P/N N309-16-490-MV

It was like that on my last car. I assume it's just a snug fit around the dowels. Lightly tighten the bolts in a cross pattern like they are lug nuts and see what happens.

if the pressure plate is on the studs(dowels,or whatever) and just sitting there, then when you put the 6 bolts in and tighten them,it should pull the plate onto the flywheel and make it sit flush.

Ok, thanks. I thought maybe it was a wrong size disk, but pulling the plate in makes sense.

Tighten the bolts in a crossing pattern a little at a time so it comes down evenly...
