Cool non-turbo TURBO ?'s

Okay, I have a non-turbo motor sitting in my basement right now and I was wondering about transforming it into a turbo. Now I know I need the wire harness, ECU, turbo, intake, ect... But I was wonder if I change the seals from the non-turbo seals to the turbo seals and leave the non-turbo rotors?

Unless rebuild kit vendors leave this detail out ALL seals are the same for engines given they are from the same series i.e. S5 N/a seals are the same as S5 TII seals. Your going to have to go through a lot of things to make this work though. I'd suggest talking to Aaron Cake about this since he added a turbo to his N/a engine. I hope you have some good fab'ing skills and the cash for it though.

here is my same reply to the other turbo-n/a thread on this very same page

It's all about what you want the engine to behave like, i'm a huge fan of high compression turbo engines, so i've got a slightly biased view, but it probably wouldn't be worth turbocharging your high comp N/A engine unless you can do alot of the work yourself....

So, how handy are you at doing lots of work on your car yourself?

and yes, the seals are the same for turbo and N/A engines. Speaking about hard seals that is, there are a few gaskets that are different, but they have _nothing_ to do with engine reliability.

Well thanks for the insite on telling me about the other guy but what I was mostly wondering is if I gotta buy turbo (forged) rotors or if I can leave the n/a rotors in there and have it still perform the same. Right now on my s4 n/a I am running an electrical fan, fuel controller, removed pre-cat, no a/c, no powersteering, no spare tire and factory style rubber and it's running mid to high 13's...

13B-REW is pretty pointless in any FC. 13B-RE is arguably MUCH smarter.

im posting here because i cant create a new thread from where i am (work) and im using an access gateway, but it is sort of a related topic. if someone has a N/A and wants a turbo, would be be cheaper/better to get a used jspec turbo motor from nippon motors? or is it better/cheaper to convert your N/A to turbo?
