Question Noise from steering when cold

I get a scrunching sound, seems like it emanates from steering wheel, turning the car when my 1988 RX-7 vert is cold. It is not there in warm weather, nor when car has warmed up.

Local Mazda dealer heard it when I had cooling system serviced, and said I needed to have suspension bushings replaced, at a cost of about $600. Does this seem logical. Car has under 27,000 original miles. I want to keep car in its current great shape, but am wondering if replacing bushings makes sense.

Any suggestions?

Thanx,

FredM

Mine makes the same noise and I havent had any problem with it. Then again I wouldnt doubt that my suspension bushings need replacing.

I have had two fc's that do that. I probably would not pay a dealer to do that depending on the tools you have available and your abilities.
