No Wipers, NOT THE SWITCH

Soo just the other day I bought another TII, the car will make a nice daily driver but the wind shieldwipers dont work. You can turn the switch to all the different settings and hear the motor speed up and slow down yet the wipers dont even atempt to move. could a gear on the motor be bad?? I know on my sisters Jetta the wiper arm got striped out and one of them didnt work but whats the chance of that happning to both of them. Any suggestions? is this common?

Thanks

Remove the wiper arms. Remove the cowl grille and take a look at the connection of the linkeage to the wiper arm behind the motor. See if it is connected properly.
