idle wont hold (new intake and TB mod)

ok the deal is after doing these to my car it will not hold an idle.... i have double checked all the hoses on the car and everything is capped off or connected correctly.. the BAC is getting air after the AFM just fine... could this be i am running lean after putting on my intake? because it will not hold an idle but when i give it gas above 2k rpms then it runs fine... i will then have enough air to burn but run lean.. does that make sense?

could the AFM be functioning wrong? i have reset the computer several times and one time that actually made it run by itself for about 20 seconds... then it dropped off and died and hasnt done it since then... any suggestions guys? how do i check to see if im running lean? thanks in advance

I had a problem similar to that, the cause was a small vacuum line under the intake that i had to remove the intake to see had come off. Donno if this will help, good luck

I know what you mean cws, my car is running shitty rich (no running below 4k though) and if you tap it down (to get it to boung around from 1k-->5k, it runs stupid freaking rich and burns holes in your eyes. Anyhow, I figure its compensating for the extra emissions that would be being dumped back into the unmetered intake, but since no emissions = run stupid rich

haha, haven't fixed it yet, broke it down to barebones twice now, going to try a third time with all new vac lines, maybe one of them had a pinhole

The emissions control system works nothing like that. Removing the emission controls has no effect of mixtures unless you stuffed something up (e.g. air leak, incorrect connection).

so i removed my air pump... built a blockoff plate and capped 4 things..... two lines that came off the block above the ACV and then the two lines that actually went to it... did i do something wrong? would that affect my idle?

(course i left the key in and to on) but it does this it revs up and then falls off really sharp and dies and then revs up and continues... what does this mean?

you might need to adjust the throttle screws under the TB, thats what i had to do to get my car to idle againafter the tb mod, only takes a little adjustment and reset the tps. but i feel that b/c i had to adjust them so much that it wasnt worth the mod, i didnt feel all that much more hp and it didnt idle too well so i wasnt too happy...then my car caught on fire and the tb is wasted so no more worries. but to each his own.

I'm up and running A re-bleed on the brakes and fix at the front oil pellet thermal thingie and its done

I went and broke it down bareblock for the 5th time. Bought a gasket grinder and milled down the engine side of the LIM. Copper-Ultra Gasket covered everything.

Started her up, adjusted idle screw, adjusted timing.

Idles at 650rpm

speaking of idle....what is the proper idle speed? i know that idle speed for most piston engines is like 850rpm +or- 50.
