no top end
i just recently got my 87' running. it sat at the previous owners house for a few years before i bought it. but when i finally took it out i was disapointed to find myself losing to my brother's saturn(no its nowhere near stock) but what i found was that i have no top end power. in the higher rpm's it feels like if i'm not even pushing the gas. why could this be? by the way it's n/a. is it possible to turbo or supercharge it?

I'm wondering the same thing about my RX7. I don't seem to have much top end power. But is the NA engine really supposed to have good pull past 5.5k? My engine pulls strong in first gear, but its very slow to rev in any other gear and it feels out of breath when floored. Trying to speed up 5-10 mph on the highway in 5th gear feels like I'm pulling a boat behind me. I do feel a slight kick at 4k when the auxiliary injectors are supposed to kick in so I know that's working. My car has 110k and is completely stock. Is this just the nature of the beast? I was under the impression rotary engines love to rev high but this car doesn't feel as spunky as my previous 92 Miata.
How common is the failure of the 5th and 6th ports?

You guys still have the original exhaust systems on your cars? I'd check that first- that was the first thing to go on me way back when.... second, check the fuel filters, then the injectors
