no time 4 search HELP!

i want to get wheels for my car its an 88 GTU amd the ones i am looking at are 17x8.5 on the front with 40MM offset and the back is 17x9.5 and they are 5x114.3 i dont know anything about wheels or tires so can you please tell me what size tire i need and if the wheels will work thanks

The wheels will not fit, you will need a spacer (probably about 20-25mm) for them to fit, and then you may stick out and rub the fender.

I thought the stock offset WAS 40mm is the width the problem?

Yea, the stock offset is 40, but I dont think youll be able to fit a 8.5" wheel up there with the stock offset.

As stated above no go. The fronts would be 3/4" closer than the stock turbo wheels. If you got a 3/4" spacer, then the wheels would move 1 1/2" closer to the fender.

Spacers will be about $199 and you'll have to roll the fenders...... Go to airbagit.com for the spacers
