no throttle response

i was driving down the interstate today and my car just died. whenever i would apply the throttle it would rev for a second then die for a second, then rev again the die. i pulled over and waited a few minutes then it stopped. drove it later for like 30 minutes and it didnt happen. i just went to start it and it would rev, die, then rev and die again. wtf is going on?

Possibly the plunger of the TPS is sticking. I saw this on one of my cars years ago.

If this happens away from the house, get out and pull the plug off the tps so you can drive the car back home.

I"m talking a situation where you start the car and go to move it. Step on the pedal and there's NO throttle response. I'm not talking the pulsating engine at idle that some people have but the car is still drivable.
