No somoke or bubbles but....

...there is a pretty strong coolant smell (unless rotary exhaust has a sweet smell to it.) I checked the filler neck, no bubbles. Also there is no smoke at all when she cranks. This cant be a coolant seal huh? I mean there is no smoke at all, or rad. hose leaks as well. Is there anything else this could be, or am I in for the slow death?
I searched too, but everyone else had white smoke coming out the pipes

Sounds just like my car. I think it is slow death (coolant seal). Seems there might be a rash of that going around. I wonder if the coolant seals have finally aged too much to hold no matter what the milage or condition of the engine?

If I can squeeze one more year out of my car I think I'll be done with it anyway.

My car has the same problem, it has a cracked water pump to engine gasket leaking water out and creating a lot of thin, white, sweet smelling smoke.

Thanks for the replys guys. The car has 94k on her, and she is ump-teen years old now, so old age may be taking ahold of her. Even if it is a coolant seal problem, I still think I can get a few more miles out of her, because all the other symptoms of seal failure are not there yet, and she still runs great. I am changing to a koyo this weekend, so maybe when I replace the rad. and hoses it will get better. (doubt it) The car is just a toy anyway, I am getting her ready to autox, road race etc. So if there is anybody in the south louisiana area who would like to head over to no problem raceway for a track day (whenever possible) shoot me a pm, maybe we could get a group up and head on over.

Guys I blew a coolant seal and Kevin at RR ripped my motor down and luckly everything is good except the coolant seals. So if you have the time to get a rebuild in the winter get it done because first 90 degree day its all over. Plus now we are using FD corner seals and 3mm apex seals to build a stronger motor so it all works out for good in the end. It will cost me 400 bucks and if it had over heated in the summer it would have been 3 grand. Pick your poison

That sounds like a good idea. If I can find a decent rotary guy in New Orleans, I may take it there and let him take it apart and diagnose whats going on. I would much rather spend 400 than 3k. 400 bucks for new seals and peace of mind sounds ok with me.
