no revometer and beeps (running on 2 sparks ?)

hey guys,

my fc came back from an engine rebuild, the guy who did the work somehow oversaw a broken wire or something... because after 40 miles the revometer died and there is a steady beeping all the time.. the guy told me there must be a broken wire somewhere and the car will now run on only 2 sparks. can this be true ??? tried to find the problem but havent found yet :/

i had a similar problem, no beeps though.

Which model do you have? If its an S4 with a dizzy set up not a CAS, then check the connection on the dizzy which facing the alternator. either the leading or trailing plugs get there spark from here and the rev counter also gets its signal from here. If you don't know what the dizzy is, its theblack round boxy thing with the HT leads going to it (from the ignition coils). Good luck finding one of those connectors though, i was just lucky when i got mine.

most likely a CAS (crank angle sensor) type. the old distributer type was phased out in 86 I believe. So which 2 spark leads are sparking, the Leading or Trailing? (Leading coil is behind the headlight) (trailing coil is right behind the shock tower). The tach is ran off the trailing coil so I'm leaning towards trailing coil system problem. But if it was working and no it isn't its probably something simple or easily explainable

If your tachometer (revometer) is not working it is likely that the trailing coil is not firing, therefore your car is running off of the leading coil only.

I would take the trailing coil out ( 3X 10mm nuts) and check to make sure it is connected properly and that there are no broken wires.
