No Power Yet
Because my time & space is minimal @ the moment, I'm trying to pinpoint the problem w/ my 87. 3 shops & several $s later I,m almost exactly where I started. Bought the manual, 20 possibilities, working on them. Alot of things done to the engine @ this point, the last person to look @ the engine advised me the engine is junk, front rotor is bad. Paid good $ for that tidbit. Haven't been able to collaborate it in the book, does it sound like a valid possibility. If so can anyone elaborate. Before I start tearing the car apart, I,d like to have a little better knowledge of the situation. The basically lacks any punch. IT starts, i can rev it but has no excellaration or power. Replaced intake gaskets, fuel pump, cleaned the exhaust, checked & set engine to specs. In search of info. Occassionally the engine w/ flood and not start. It w/ also idle ruff as tho the fuel mixture is to rich periodically. W/ be happy to provide more details if it w/ solve the problem.

do a compression test. that will tell you if the motor is gone. also check to make sure all 4 plugs are getting spark, you might be running off one coil.
try changing the fuel filter if you havn't already.
and I wouldn't trust many people with these engines. no normal shop or even the mazda dealer will be able to help you. you need to find a rotory shop.
