My 87 n/a with no real mods has recently been losing power. It started out when I would shift into 5th and let the clutch out, the rpms would go up to ~2000 or wherever it would be with no throttle and when I press the gas I get nothing. So I'll take it in and out of gear a few times and then it will be fine.

Then the other day it did it in 4th gear. Then I was just cruising in 5th and it lost power, and I tapped the gas a couple times and it came back.

Then I went to take off in 1st and it lost power, didn't stall, but I had to push the clutch in and wait a second then it was fine.

Any suggestions? The problem is getting more and more common. I'm going to check my spark plugs and was thinking maybe I'm getting a bad ground?

You checked your vac lines, lately?

 

Yeah I sprayed them down with carb cleaner like a month or so ago and they seemed fine, but I'll check them again. Thanks
