no power to headlights/motors
Ok so my headlights will not go up, via the headlight switch or the **** above it that solely moves it up or down, even when the head light switch is powered on the lamps do not prduce light through the ftp lens, also when u flash the lights through the ftp lens they still do not work, no light comes out of the lamps at all, the side markers work still though, when i switch the headlights on the clock will dim as does the radio like normal, my gauge cluster does not illuminate either, so to sum it up i get no headlights at all, and the motors dont move them up or down either
any thoughts? mine is the relay as i have checked the fuses, my worst fear is it is the switch but the switch powers the side markers and affects the clock and the radio still
i have searched no one seams to have the exact same issue either the motor doesnt work or nothing works as in side markers... just dont wanna buy a relay from the dealer and have that not be it

ok, i went through every fuse at the kick panel, every stinking one of them, and some of them twice, then i went to the engine bay, i dont have the cover for the fuses at the bay but i believe the bottom one is the retractor fuse, it was good, along will all of the rest in the main fuse block

The HEADLIGHT and RETRACT fuses are shown in the FAQ thread. They're in the engine bay fuse box.
The switch only puts a GROUND on the headlight relay.
Go to the headlight relay and make sure it has batt pwr on the RED wire. IF it does, then get a piece of wire and put one end of that new wire to gnd. With the other end make contact with the W/L or white wire with Blue stripe on it. The headlights should come on. Retracts won't work doing this, but the headlights should come on. IF they come on, then ohm out the circuit from the W/L wire at the headlight relay to the R/W wire in the headlight switch to see if it's an open circuit or not.
If they come on, then your missing the gnd signal from the light switch. So go take the light switch plug off and find the R/W wire in the PLUG. Put a gnd on the R/W wire. The headlights should come on (that's simulates all you do when you go ON with the headlight sw as far as the headlights go).
The headlight relay and location is shown in the jpg attached.
Retract/up/down is different. Go pull the plug off the headlight switch. Make sure there is power on the RED wire in the headlight switch plug. Jumper the RED wire in the plug to the R/L or red/blue wire if you will. The headlights should come up. Then jumper the Red to the R/Y or red/yellow wire in the plug. The headlights should go down.
Instrument lights and front and rear side lights..........remove the headlight switches plug and jumper the White/Green wire to the Red/Black wire in the plug. The front and rear side lights should come on. Then jumper the White/Green wire to the Red/Green wire in the plug. The instrument/cigar lights should come on.
Before doing the two steps above, look at the WHITE/GREEN wire in the headlight switch plug and see if it's burnt/melted/screwed up or not. If burnt up, replace the short headlight switch harness. The W/G wire is fed from the ILLUMINATION fuse shown the FAQ thread on this site.
All wiring diagrams can be downloaded from this site and saved/viewed.
There's a small chance your BTN fuse in the engine bay is shot. It feeds batt pwr to the interior fuse box. IF your horn does not honk, you might check the BTN fuse in the engine bay. It feeds the batt bus the horn fuse gets power from. No BTN power equals no horn/Illumination/side lights and any other thing on the batt bus in the interior fuse box.

Hailers thank you very much just did the test on the headlight switch plug i got the headlights to go up then i was able to get them on, using these steps ** Put a gnd on the R/W wire. The headlights should come on (that's simulates all you do when you go ON with the headlight sw as far as the headlights go).
