no power to fuel pump

90 Convertible, automatic

The car was running great last week after I installed a new fuel pump, etc. and got it going. For some reason I left the parking lights on and it drained the battery. Now that the battery is good again, the car will not start. I checked the pump and it was pumping NO fuel so I pulled the connector and checked the voltage on the plug while the car was cranking and it is zero. Obviously something happened that has caused a power loss to the pump. Any ideas?

Thanks

Bob

check each wire cycling key off, then on, one of them should provide a 3 second or so power, atleast this is true for most other cars...

check fuses? check the relay?, have an alarm system? got a fuel cut in the circuit? i dont know your car.

Not sure what fuse handles the pump but no I haven't checked the relay yet. No alarm or fuel cutoff. THe only thing that happened between now and when it was running fine was a drained and recharged battery.

I have power to the pump - pump appears to be bad although it is only three weeks old.

Question on pump - if I measure resistance accros the terminals of the pump, what kind of reading should I get? It is showing what appears to be a short!!

Thanks
