You haven't been looking long enough. I've been looking for a nice one for years now, and probably seen a half dozen that I'd consider buying, but was too late.

So a series 5 with a blown engine but otherwise in good condition? I'd say $2500 or so. Thats if you can find one. TIIs are hard to find, S5s are harder.

I'm the new owner of that one It wasn't in great condition, but it runs and I didn't pay much for it! Just lucky that I even found it for sale. I think TIIs are even harder to come by than the AE86 in so-cal.

I just picked up a 88 TII with 55k miles for only 2,000. The guy thought the manifold was cracked and apex seal was going bad. Luckily for me, 2 bolts were loose on the manifold making it sound like a lawnmower. Only other problem is it will not idle when it is cold, revs up like normal for a few seconds, idles down, then shuts off. Anyhow, good luck finding a TII.

sorry for the cruddy pic

Your not looking hard enough. I found two 1989+ Mica Blue Turbo IIs through Autotrader, but I called everyone "no-name" add. Also check www.thepartstrader.com , email the lists, etc.. etc..

Yea, its terrible.

I flew to MN to buy a TurboII which "had no rust and never seen snow or rain".

Funny thing is, it was raining when we got there.

Look under the car.. what the hell, tons of rust.

Wasted $900+exp (flight/hotel/food)

I would have beat the **** out of the person that told me it was rust free... then kicked a big ****** dent in his daily driver honda's door.

But thats me, I can get a little violent when people waste my time & money.

That reminds me … I was walking out of OSH one time .. and as I’m getting close to my car I see some jackass open his door right into my N/A’s door. I walk up “um, excuse me .. you just put a ding in my door” the guy down played it … then said it was already there. I got F-in steamed… I put a size 13 boot in the quarter panel of his plymouth acclaim .. as he stood there in total disbelief looking at what I just did I turned to him and said “that must have been there also” I drove away .. expecting he got my plate number or something, I never heard a word from him.

I felt kinda bad later after I calmed down ... my N/A already had a few dings on it here and there.. its not like it was perfect, but its the fact the mother F'er tried to Bullshit me, thats what pissed me off... if he would have owned up to it and said sorry .. I would have prolly said "NP, **** happens"

are tII's really that hard to find. I was going to start looking for one in about 8 months, hoping to have one bought by 12 months. And i'm limited to western Michigan. Should I start looking now or are they only hard to find in certain places. BTW I'd go up to 5k so price isn't going to stop me from getting a TII if it's in good condition.

I should have rephrased myself, there are a few, but not many 89+'s and I don't want an older one.

Geeze I kinda forgot the topic earlier. It took me about 3 months to find mine. Here is what i did; I went to newspaperlinks.com and checked every local paper in CA, OR, and AZ. I was willing to travel a bit for the right car. I also checked the common places like autotrader .. but you find the best deals in little local papers in unheard of places. Make sure you check the Sunday papers on these web sites for sure (typically more car postings).. I organized my favorates to all the places that had classified adds online in there paper. I tried to check them at least every other day. Low and behold I just wanted any TII with a very good body. I came across a 10 AE 550 miles away in a small no name suburb of portland. The guy only had it advertised locally so I called, asked for pictures .. and sight unseen after I looked at the photo's PayPal'ed him the down payment of $500. I payed $1850 for a 10 AE with a PERFECT body & interoir (seats needed done, otherwise perfect) it had a blown rear rotor thats it. I trailered it on a U-haul flatbed from Oregon to here .. and that was it. Local papers is the key to the good deals.
