No Longer chirp in 2nd gear, only wheel hop...

well last night I was making a coupla high rpm runs, making sure everything is ready for sundays autoX, any way my shift to second usally yeilds a loud bark, now I only hear a very small chirp and almost like wheel hop coming from the left side, kinda like 5 or 6 "thuds" untill it gets traction, did I possibly blow another diff mount, what should the right and left diff mounts look like, cracks if any?

maybe your cluch is just starting to wear out a little. Mine only chirpped for about a month. The chirp doesn't make the car any faster anyways.

you only get a chirp? In my '90 TurboII I break the tires loose for a little while on dry pavement, rear end gets squirrley and all that.

Hey Black rx7 i have the exact same problem. Do you also get loud thumps (from the rear of the car) when you go over rail road tracks? Maybe we can get some help on this issue.

Yeah when I leave my apt complex, the driveway is about 2 inches or less from the actuall road and almost everytime I leave I hear a bump but I thought it was just the drop off....oh yeah if I shift just right with a little double clutching involve, I used to almost go sideways, anyone know of the symtoms of the left and right diff mount going bad....though it maybe my wheel bearing also....

Or no one cares...

Is there a performance reason for wanting to "bark" your tires in between shifts?&nbsp It just means you're losing traction, and that usually means losing time.
Tire tractions has too many variables to be able to consistently have them performance identically...
Were you on the same street surface?
What was the ambient temps?
What was the ambient humidity?
Was there any percipitation on the road?
Was the tire pressure the same?
etc.

its not that I want them to "bark" but when I shift into 2nd the power transfer used to be so good it made the rear break loose, now it just patheticly clunck clunck, not the same clunk from the front diff mount as I have a compitition mount......

to your questions ret
yes to all...

Maybe your tires are just getting worn. I know on my khumos ( I hate them, but came with my wheels ), they chirped fine until they were pretty worn, now all I they just spin when I shift, no sound. Just a thought.....

possible lsd wearing out????? It is your clutch going wearing out but maybe lsd cause if your "barking your tires" then that means your torquing your car alot and that means wear and tear and supposedly our lsds aret supposed to live that long

something weird has happened to my car as well..
I have a 88 TII and used to be able to do massive burnouts and leave 2 nice patches of rubber.
It felt fast, now, something clunked the other day, when i went to spin them good. Only 1 tire was spinning>>> I was like wtf? i have lsd why isn't both going like before? So i think i wore out the clutch in the lsd, or my clutch at the trans is a pos. The tranny has to go too cause 2nd gear syncros are gone..

ya..

ON my car when the road is wet it makes the wheel hop worse. I really do need some help figuring this one out. Im leaning towarrds mounts (diffy, tranny, etc.) But i am really looking for an educated opinion not just my blind stabs in the dark.

when its raining out and i mash the gas, i get no wheel hop, just one wheel spins like a bitch at 7000rpm and then finally when it starts to slow down i get this weird, bumpish affect to the right side and then it feels like the other wheel kicks in or something?........

It really sucks, my car is away for the winter now. so i can buy all the necessary parts to make my caar "fast" again. none of this slow , slipping clutch, 1 wheel spinning ****.

I was saying, with the same road conditions I usally chirp the tires in 2nd, now I cannot with the same road conditions and tire pressure, and all a that...

I looked under the rear of the car, nothing looks out of the ordinary all mounts look fine.....though my front controll arm bushings are shot!

hey how old is your suspension? wheel hop is usually a direct relationship to that. If it's still stock, then i would bet that's your problem.

And mine is stock and probably the origional suspension down to the bushings. I am just interested in what i need to change to get this issue resolved. Major wheel homp and nasty thumpin noises over train tracks, and any type of similar bumps has me driving like miss daisy. I love my car but i miss driving it as hard as i used to.

yeah mine was hopping in 1st gear as well and i took it to get the suspension looked at. it turned out my rear shocks were shot so i got them replaced. afterwards i could do long burnouts with out the slightest hop.

the only bad thing is that this was last year and this problem is already starting to resurface again.

Go get your suspension checked.
