No Heat...Cold Weather Approaching Fast
I searched around and couldn't find what I needed anywhere.
Im pretty sure my logicon is working because everything works except the temp control. I also have tried another unit.
I am fairly certain the motor for the actuator on the blend door is bad
I have heard that I can get under the dash on the drivers side and manually operate the lever on the blend door to the full heat setting. I looked in my FSM and found the rods and levers that are controlled by the actuator but I couldnt move it easily.
So my question is 1) Can I "solve" my problem this way? 2)If so, am I going about it correctly or am I on my way to breaking something and having to tear my dash out?

You will NOT have to teat the dash out...
Remove the driver's seat and lay on the floor with your head butted up against the brake pedal. Remove all the trim and ductwork.
You'll see the motor up towards the center of the dash... (Up behind where the logicon goes.) You can unclip the actuator rod from the motor and move the mix door and heater control valve manually until you feel ready to replace the motor.
Access the motor the same way and it pulls from the central ductwork assembly with four screws.

Thanks Pele.
after posting this yesterday I went out and did exactly what you said. I was concerned that the valve wouldnt stay open without the motor holding there but it seems like it should stay up.
Its quite the squeeze getting in there but after I park the car this winter I will probably raplace the motor with my new knowlegde that It wont be too horribly bad. so thanks again

I'm in the same boat. Either my logicon or temp control motor is toast. I unhooked the rod from the lever on the drivers side and I just pulled it down to open the heater core valve. Sometimes the temp motors go, but usually, it's the logicon. You can get to the plug at the end of the long wire if you remove the panel on the dash at the base of with windshield. Or you can get to it from under the dash on the driver side like mentioned already.

Im uhh.... not real sure honestly.
I took it for a pretty good drive this weekend (1 1/2 hr each way) and it never seemed to blow too much heat unless it was on the defrost setting which it was blowing what I would consider just above luke warm temp. This whole thing has been confusing and unless anyone has a pretty good idea what exactly my problem could be Im done messing with it and Im just going to start driving the rx8 until more warmer days roll around

The valve may have moved. Check again.
Also verify that both hoses to your heater core are hot...
One comes from the lower radiator hose and travels up along the right frame rail in the engine bay. The other returns to just below the oil filter.
