no emissions
when i bought my car it was equipped with a straight pipe the power band felt so solid all the way thru rpms...in an effort to pass nj emissions i had an flowmast hi flo direct cat put in(for a ripoff price wouldve done it myself if i wasnt a newb)...well after it was put it the power band was cut drastically, and i still failed nj inspection... well now 2months later my car is running similar to how it was when i got it is it possible that all the netting fiberglass(or w/e the **** is in a cat) blew out from the heat and i am running with basically a straight pipe again?

The catalyst in a catalytic converter is platinum, which is why they are so expensive, it is not fiberglass
Yes it is possible that your cat burned up, the exhaust temps are very high for a rotary. Why I put my cat in I had them put it pretty far back, to help keep it from getting destroyed.
If you are interested in how they work: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/catalytic-converter.htm

kill it with BOOMSTICK!
www.rx7.com has some that are either a bolt-in setup from the stock manifold to the Y-pipe or they have free-standing ones that weld into a pipe for a custom system. The choice is yours based on your setup.
