Why is it that Eibach says it doesn't have springs for the Gen 2 convertible? Can I go ahead and use the springs for the NA?

Or you can use the Turbo springs as well for a slightly higher spring rate on the rear springs for the Turbo part number.

BTW I researched Racing Beats vert springs, the rate is lower then the coupe springs they sell and it drops the car 1/2" less, I decided to just go with the coupe springs instead, I almost think the vert springs they sell are meant to be just a little better then stock springs.

 

That's interesting about the RB vert springs. The rate is lower, the drop is less, so...the spring must be longer/higher to begin with? So the spring will be preloaded compressed more... Now I am just confused.


The Eibach is progressive and on the rears the initial rate for turbo is measured at 5# higher, but the final rate is the same as the coupe. I don't think that 5# is too significant, but it couldn't hurt any given the vert's higher curb weight.

I have turbo eibachs on my vert and they are fine. I bought them slightly used and got a really good deal on the springs mounted on nearly new Tokico Blues.

I would have gone with the coupes if a deal had come up for the coupe part first.

 

I talked to Racing Beat about the springs, I asked if the rates are lower then the coupe are the springs themselves larger or what makes them more suitable for a convertible, did not get a solid answer that I could offer to anyone as advice.

Then I happened to come across a smoking deal on some 1 month old coupe springs and AGXs so I went for them. I wanted the car a little lower then a 1/2" drop over stock.

I have about 125 miles on the set up so I cant say for sure, I can say the car rides like it came from the factory compared to my other FC with Tein coil-overs in it.

I only pleasure/weekend drive the car, no competition driving at all, Im also getting up there in age where driving crazy is not my thing anymore

I have a vert that I'm going to do suspension work on next time I need tires..which is pretty soon for the fronts. RB was the only company I had seen that offered vert specific springs. Is it possibly that they have vert specific springs with a smaller drop because the vert is that much heavier and the weight of the car balanced differently? Follow up question, would the average driver even notice a difference if there was a weight and balance variable?

 

up until a year or two ago when they offered the vert specific springs everyone used coupe springs and life was good.

My car has 155k miles on it, the coupe springs really only dropped the car another 3/8" or so from where it was sitting on its old sagging suspension.
I ended up also needed to install the rear steer eliminators and I also put the adjustable camber links in- I dont know if it was age or the dropped suspension that caused it all but I was noticing for some time the rear wheel having negative camber, even though the car basically sat for the last 2 years in my garage- now it has a perfect alignment again after coming out of the alighment shop.

gives a nice even drop from stock (about .75 to 1 inch) with a nice ride quality to boot. The sport kit is even lower and of course a bit harsher. I've got the pro kit with tokiko illuminas on my S5 vert and its real nice

 

I have the progressive rate eibachs on tokico illumas on my 'vert (got a good deal on a slightly used set), and they seem very nice. Its a little bit firmer ride, but well controlled for the street and autocross, even with the bit heavier weight of the 'vert.

Like Jack, I was a Republican when Republicans were conservative. What this means for my suspension is that I'm 47 and would prefer a slightly firmer suspension, but I don't think I would use the car in a manner which would let me appreciate the positives of a coil over suspension. I was thinking Eibach pros with Koni inserts. Are there glaring faults to this?

 

you should run 240sx coilovers on your 7, cuz there cheaper and you can run them lower etc.. for reference on my vert 7 weekend drift car i have s13 kybagx/groundcontrol setup 8kg/6kg f/r respectivley like mose coil setups w/ camber plates in the front.. rides better than it did on the 240 ..

 

Great idea. I have also heard great reports of magic when using Prokit and AGX or Tokico Illumina.

I think my Prokits/Tokico Blues could use a little more damping; my main rider thinks the ride is hard enough.

 

Like you, I have to pay attention to the "main rider" as well. I think I'll go with the Konis and the prokits and see what she says.
