no clue where to start...

as most everyone else it seems, I'm having a problem that is hard to diagnose.

symptoms...
car stumbles, hard to idle (fully warmed), loses power, dies. cranks back up just fine, will run fine or will persist for a few minutes, and finally "clear out" and will run fine for a week or so.

mods are...
no emissions, no cat, 5 & 6 removed, cone filter, rb header, tII catback. ignition is stock and fuel is stock. car does have an safc but no settings have been changed since install months ago and all "should" be well with that.

now at first it seemed to me like a fuel delivery problem with either the pump or maybe a clogged fuel filter or maybe even a press prop at the regulator (unfamiliar with rx7 fuel system but assuming like most efi systems there is a regulator). lately, its got me wondering if it isn't an ignition problem. it almost seems as though its running fine on 1 rotor while this happens, but not quite sure honestly. I haven't done a comp test because honestly, once it makes it through its hiccups, it runs great.

I don't want to just start throwing parts at it in hopes of fixing the problem, but I have no diagnosis for it myself. anyone have any advice or suffered from similar problems? what was the outcome?

any and all help will be appreciated.

hah! I do wish it were that easy. full tank. does kind of seem like running out of gas but unfortunately $47 of gas the day before just doesn't fit the diagnosis. I could only wish it were that easy.

I'd start with the guides for bad idle. I believe there are several in the 2nd gen archive. Even though idle isn't specifically your problem, the activities are probably good regardless of the exact symptoms.

And if you think it is the fuel system, the FMS has some great step by step tests. I know, I've been following them! I got a high pressure fuel injection pressure tester at Harbor Freight for $10.

Oh, one tip on the fuel pressure tests, they assume you are only going to execute one of them. So they each include the setup. If you read them all, you'll be able to execute several of them with only one setup. And that is a very good thing!

Good luck
