no air pump, how long will the cat last?

the title is self explanitory..
my car has a really crappy exhaust with a CatCo High Flow cat, I dont need to worry about emmissions, I want to remove the power steering (I might want to put it back in after a while), AC (dosent work) and Air Pump tomorrow.
when the cold goes away I'll be dropping in a J-Spec drivetrain (it's a GXL) so do you guy's think the cat will last at least a few months without the Air Pump? I'll be ditching that exhaust system when the new engine goes in.

I just have a thing for empty engine bay's.. next thing will be to get a E-Fan and a ditch the Air Box and hide the sensors and loose wiring. And this will just make it easier so I wont have to do this when I do the swap.

the TII engine will be setup the same way, except I'll go the extra step and remove the emmissions garbage as well.

I don't think I'll goto e-fans, I wanted to at first but I don't want to hook it up, I don't want to worry about it failing.
Personally I think a nice performance fan for the fan clutch, the ones you see on muscle cars and ****, would look great! I saw one at my local auto store for about 50 bones, cheap, effective and nice lookin.

I've been told that the cats turn cherry red with air goin to them, and im sure that will accelerate the deterioration process much more quickly.

If your going to goto the trouble of removing that other stuff, pic yourself up some piping and a hacksaw, take the cat out and fab up a straight pipe instead.

yah the current exhaust is really ghetto, it scrapes on small speed bumps, leaks a bit and the downpipe off the manifold is like 1" crushed tubing.. I really cant justify spending any money or time replacing that exhaust when I'll just be throwing it out later, possibly I will look into getting a straight pipe welded in.

I'm a bit worried about using a E-Fan also, but when you think about it most cars use them and they never fail. So why would this one.. I'm going to go to the junkyard and try to find a Tempo E-Fan (or was it the taurus ones everone is using, I'll search it up) Just have to figure out a good way to wire it, I think I'll just direct wire it to an ignition source so I dont have to worry about those aftermarket heat sensors failing like many have in the past for many of my friends. sure it will suck power, but it will do it anyways when the car is hot.

They fail all the time, you just probably never hear about it. Automotive electric motors SUCK. VERY poor quality.

Fiero, or any large GM.

Do it properly: http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/efaninstall.htm
