Nitrous + Fuel Pump

Ok, I have heard that if I am going to put nitrous on my stock 86 GXL, I will need to upgrade my fuel pump to a 255 lph pump then get a fuel pressure regulator. Just wanting to make sure before I try hooking it up with my stock pump. I am going to be running a NX wet kit 50shot.
Thanks in advance.

Make sure of what?

I don't quite get your question.

Just wanting to know if I do need a new fuel pump, or if my old one will be fine with the setup.

not for a 50 shot.... but anything more you will need to compinsate that n2o with more fuel or you will damage the apex seals and blow your motor... actually i think a 75 shot will be fine withought a fuel pump upgrade... you dont necesarily need a 255 lph fuel pump thats a bit overkill unless you have a highly modded turbo engine... just go with an FD fuel pump

Now, in order to run a 50-75 shot... do you need to do any kind of tuning?? or will the stock fuel configuration withstand a 50-75?

Get a new one, more air means you need more fuel. It'll run rich unless you have a FPR.

But keep in mind FD pumps have been used before and can be prone to failure.

The 255 is fine if you have a FPR. Get the FPR and the 255 to be 100% safe.

75 shot if I would recommend looking into retarding the ignition.

spraying nitrous on a stock fuel pump is a really bad idea. You might be able to get away with it, but why risk it?

is the price of a pump worth a new engine?

using a wet system (was mentioned by the original poster) you wouldn't and especially not that little shot. With a dry system I would say at a 75 shot you would CERTAINLY want to at least have an safc and maybe some 720's in order to bump up the fuel to compensate for the shot.....

but with a wet system it adds the nos and gas respectively - as long as you have the pump and pressure required for the amount of nitrous being injected
