Newly Purchased 88 Conv.
Newly Purchased 88 Conv.
Just bought a 88 Conv. for 500$. Had bben siiting for over a year. When it was parked for the last time, it wasnt able to move.
This is what I've done thus far:
Bleed all the brakes and cleaned the old fluids out. Only problem is that I have never owned a car with 4 piston brakes. Have 1 piston rear. Found that when i blead the front brakes, and closed the bleeder valve, I didnt get any pressure back to the petal. Had to bleed the rear again to get preasure back. Is this normaly how it works? Or is something wrong?
Blead the slave cylinder off and cleaned the old fluid out.
pulled the tranny and found the clutch disk broken in the center. Pilot and throwout look good. Was a racing disk mounted up to a stock pressure plate. Was that the wrong combo, if it was feasable, why would it break like that. Also found that the clutch housing had 2 different types of bolst. Had 2 long bolts with no spacers, and 4 short ones with spacers. Think the flywheel holes may have been partialy stripped and the 2 long bolts used to compinsate. Is that an ok fix, or should i re-tap the flywheel? I replaced the disk with a stock disk and it is a little thicker, causing some of the small bolts not to screw in. Would appreciate some advice on this. Still have the tranny out, gonna work it tommorow, want to try to get it right the first time.
Tested the convertable top. It went down adn up, then wouldn't go down again. It just beeps and then clicks.
As far as I know from the guy I baught the car from, the car has been ported and has a header with 3" exhaust.
It has no power steering pump or smog, yet an 0'2 sensor is still hooked up to the header. The stock stereo is still in the car but only one speaker works that one is under the dash. I found a amp in the spare tire area, but have no clue if it works.
Its a nice car, Just gonna need some advise. To get it up to par.
Thanks,
Shawn.
