Question Newbie Has A ?

HI, I JUST BOUGHT AN 87 GXL FOR 150 BUCKS AND I HAD A QUESTON. EVERYTHING IS FINE ON THE RX, RUNS GOOD USES NO OIL, INTERIOR PERFECT. BUT I HAVE A QUESTION THE REAR HATCH GLASS SEEMS OFFSET SOME THE SEAMS IN THE BODY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ARE WIDER THAN THE OTHER SIDE IS THIS THE MANUFACTUERS WAY OF OPENING THE HATCH WITH THE OFFSET IN THE SIDE?

The seams should be the same. It sounds like the car was T-boned. You may want to check to see if the frame is bent. Regardless, that's a pretty good price for a running RX-7.

Run a carfax report on it for a basic history of the car. It might show its a rebuilt title or was salvaged. It might show nothing.

It depends on how badly the frame is bent. Take it to a frame specialist, and they can tell you

Check to see if the gap is the same width all the way down. If it is a simple adjustment may correct it. If the gap is wider at one end than the other and the other side is OK then you do indeed have a problem with the car's body.

The previous advice was right on. Take your Rex to a reputable body shop for a look see. I can tell you that a poorly repaired wrecked car is not only an eyesore, it is also possibly dangerous to drive. It may also be nearly impossible to repair properly now.
