newbe questions

Hi just bought 88 RX7 convertible. I have to put some $ in it to make it run good. I have few questions:
1. After parked the car I see oil dripping looks like from underneath the front of the engine.
2. My center console switches are different (looks like fro hard top) - I'm missing switch to open top - Also there is no wires for that swich.
3. Sound like throuout bearing is giong out - when it's rolling on neutral and than I put it in a gear I hear weir bearing noise

it has little over 100k miles on the clock.

Can someone answer my questions please

Well what exactly are your questions???

for example:
#1 yes that can happen so what is the question???
#2 the top switch is built into the wiper switch assembly on the 88 and 89 convertible so there would not be wires in the center consol. The switch is above the wiper switch and below that hazard switch... so what was your question
#3 yes that could also be... so what again is the question???

sorry I'm a little tired. Just got back from work.
1. Is that oil dripping a big problem on a rotary? And where most likely is it coming from?
2. How do I put the top down?
3. Shoul I look into that bearing? Is that common?

1. yes it can happen, pullt the oil pan and replace the gasket, that is MOST LIKELY your culprit.

2. not sure what you would like to know about this one, but if you check the 2nd parts for sale section of the forum someone may have the vert (convertable) center switches.

3. if it sounds like it's going and there are 100k on the clock replace the clutch and berrings. it it called a thowout berring because it is a sacrificial part. it wears out before you cause damage to the rest of the clutch assembly.

4. WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!
there is ALOT of good information here, if you try searching your questions they most likely have already been covered before if they are a common problem. just click the search butting at the top of your screen just under the red FC'c rear bumper

hope this information helps. take care,

watashiwa Ryosuke des, dozo yorosh-ku.

The last owner was messing with the car and the switch for the top you guys R talking about (one below the hazard swich) looks like is an idiot switch - there is no swich bechind the ****. Maybe they put different console - I don't know.
Is there a way jump the swich so I can test the top?
And what is the procedure to lower the top?

Make sure you check the main seal behind the main engine pulley as well for an oil leak in the front of the motor..

This is the wiper switch that you should have:

To lower the top, release the tabs, parking brake on, turn the switch.

If you don't have that switch, I have rebuilt ones available on my website under products, and then under rebuilt products.
