New wiring harness?

I've been restoring my Turbo II since last fall. It ran when I first got it, but then quit producing spark. I took it to my friend's shop to see if he could diagnose it. According to him, the main engine fuse blows every time you turn the key on.

Is this a common problem? I've heard the the wiring on these cars can get pretty brittle. Is it possible to fix without replacing the entire harness?

when the main fuese blows, this is an indication that you have a power wire grounding out somewhere. check everything under the hood as this problem occurs either with a crossed wire through the engine wire harness or a crossed wire in the harness on the driverside (harness for starter, alternator, battery, fusebox, etc.)

I restore harnesses for 350 w/ 4 free harness connectors, and usually replace more when I have them on hand for free.

I would obviously have to send you the harness for you to work on it, but is there anything else I would need to do?

if you are blowing your main fuse...............the engine harness is not the problem. you are having a grounding issue somewhere under the hood that has nothing to do with the em harness. i would check your charging harness ( the one connecting the starter, alternator, battery, and main engine fuse)

if you need just a charging/starter harness,i have nice one for sale, only needs one connector to alternator, this harness can be cut away from the main harness with razor knife and unwrapping tape

there are two thick black wires coming from the main fuse. follow these wires and you should find your problem.

Check the alternator/intercooler area.
That part of the TII is usually the culrprit of shorting out the wiring,as the intercooler will hit the alternator and ZAP!

Fuel pump went bad and shorted internally, causing the main engine fuse to blow. Walbro 255LPH pump fixed it, and I got to drive the car for the first time today.

ENGINE fuse should have been the one that blew not the main fuse if this is wired as a stk car.

Engine fuse.............fifteen amps.

Main fuse...............eighty amps.

Engine fuse come before the pump and Main fuse after the engine fuse. Makes no sense on a stock car.

Good of you to bring this to light. There are ten minutes of headscratching I'll never get back.
