also, im sure this has been addressed before. But what about rain issues? Any one with a vented hood had these problems. I like to go out when its wet to my fav corner, or parking lot and pratice some drifting. So will the vent cause problems?

I want cf, but I won't settle for anything less than what Dave makes. I'm very impressed with his hoods and wouldn't waste my money on a hood unless he made it. I'll just wait until he's done And I am one of the few NON flakey fc owners

SSR got bought by Tanabe and is continuing wheel production, so what's all the fuss for? What caused the crash of SSR was $600/set cheapo-ebay wheels, and this is going to be an original hood anyways. Nobody but a JDM-crazed fool would pay $1000+ for a hood when a U.S.-based company could make it for 500-600 dollars with the same kind of quality.

The C-Wings hood this guy was commenting on, is a carbon fiber recreation of the Knight Sport hood...

Did you completely miss my post where they are going to be fiberglass, and possibly CF later on?

No more than the rain that comes through the front of a car while driving on the freeway behind another car. The vent will be basically right where the radiator is to vent that air. I want the rear of the big vent to cover the alternator so there is no massive amounts of rain pouring directly onto it etc, but I won't be making any kind of plug or cover. Maybe just swap back to an N/A hood when it rains and you want to go out?

Dave, I know that you would use the same mounts as I have for fitment testing so I have to ask...

Is there any chance that this hood will fit over a 20B?

If you get one in FG expect to add money on top of the price of the hood to paint it or maintaining the paint, worry about cracking it if you drop it too hard or pressing on it to lock it shut, worrying about people leaning on it and cracking etc...

I'm the guy that bought Dave's personal '91 'Vert. It has one of his CF turbo hoods and what I can tell you for sure is you don't have to worry about it cracking when handling it. It doesn't have the weight to make the latches when you shut it so I have to push it down whenever closing it and one of my kids friends of questionable intelligence even sat on it until I damn near killed him. These hoods are bullet proof. Yea it will need painted (mine's natural CF finish for now) but you don't have to worry about treating it like a fiberglass hood because to this point it has been VERY durable.

Is there an echo in here? I'm thinking you just copy and pasted what I wrote because if you didnt and used my exact words that's kinda freaky.

That's my thought anyway.

I have actually modified my hood substantially. It now has two large EVO VIII style vents on the flat behind the original vents. I would highly recomend emulating the rear cowl vents incorporated in the Knight Sport hood. These hoods can make a big difference in temps. With proper frontal openings, radiator/ dual oil coolers, a 40+ degree drop in temps is normal. My road race temps at ~480rwhp(20 psi) are 200 water, 210 oil after 20 minutes at 5000-8500 RPM. That said my cooling mods are extensive. As for rain, my hood is as open as that one, and I have no problems washing the car etc. I'll try to get some pics posted, and also get Atilla some decent pics of my car, those are awful.... Dave will do a great job as always, I am sure. Later, Carl

*Thread ressurection*

Just curious if 13b4me is going to post up the pictures of Carl's hood. Also wanted to keep this thread in the public eye to see what everyone thinks.

Hey Dave, I like this design of vent you guys use on your drag FC, good placement and idea to get rid of the heat generated by the turbo. Is this vent available to purchase? I didn't see it on your website.

Dave, the "turbo" vent in the picture above... Is that the "other" vent you are talking about putting on the hood that you're currently designing? Because that would be PERFECT with the vent for the V-mount!! Just curious.

Zach, whats up its Kevin. You bought my intercooler and something else, can't remember.

Anyways, I emailed Dave about that other vent and it was something upwards of $180 for just the vent. A little more pricier than I was hoping because I built my own hood and needed a turbo vent.

BTW, I'm goin 13BRE too. motor just blew.

Well all I would want is just the vent and instructions on how to install it onto my factory hood. I just want something to help with getting the turbo heat out from under my hood cuz I am running a aftermarket setup on my car, and the turbo generates so much heat.....so any info on where I can get that would be nice and appreciated.

well basically contact Dave and buy a vent. Cut a hole with the same outline as the vent and either fiberglass, bondo, or rivet it in.
