New used owner!! =)

hi guys,
ive been looking around these forums for the past month and ive finally picked up my own 2nd gen gxl auto last week. im in nyc but i went all the way to va and hauled it back and i think it was well worth it. so far my plans are just to get it running again and do a tranny swap. i would rebuild the engine myself if i have to. just a couple of quick questions about my new used car.

obviously it doesnt run but it does start up. the engine stalls but stays on at 3000 rpm and above. if i let it drop, the car just dies, but i let it run for 10+ minutes and it was fine. exhaust smells rich. the car doesnt like to start up again afterwards. this doesnt sound like a compression problem to me but im new to rotaries so what do i know. i will do all the necessary tests next week but any input as to what the culprit might be would be appreciated.

also, the car is in pretty decent shape but there are a couple things that bug me. the door trim under the window seems to be rusted out and the plastic is cracking off. is this part of the door? or can i get this piece replaced by itself? thanks for any input guys.

Only decent replacements are from mazdatrix.com. I'm in the process of replacing mine but they're 57bucks a pop!!! They wont rust again on you though. They bug the hell outta me too and mine look exactly the same. Cool car man. I love the yellow.

Outer window trim repair

The old one will pop off with the use of a blade knife placed under the bottom of the trim and push up.The top of the door has a metal lip that runs along the length of the door.In this lip are 3 grooves or slots which the trim piece snaps onto. After removal you will see how it was held in place and make putting in the new piece a snap, really! There is no glue or adhesive used at all. Some people elect to put a coat or two of sealant on the trim before installation but is not required for the piece ought to last at least ten years in good condition. As noted earlier by a previous poster,"they are a bit expensive",but once in place they will definitely look like a million dollars.I ordered a pair of the flash to pass lenses in front of the headlight bay and they cost $146 new.I am in the wrong business.Good luck.

have you tried to drive it? does it move on its own power? pull out the spark plugs see if they are soaked; also notice what color are they? black? if so you're probably flooding really bad. Probably should get your injectors checked. I think that should be able to solve the problems...maybe other experts can correct me if I'm wrong.
