did some work on my GTUs tonight....

A friend and I set in on my car tonight, Ive been wanting to work on it for a while but havnt quite had the time since I had been away at school. So Im basically in the process of installing my new autometer water temp gauge. In the process I got some maintenance issues out of the way and changed the oil, coolant, and installed a new mazda oem thermostat. We also removed all of the a/c components, which I am really happy with, now I have much more room to work in there, and dumped some weight! I was able to isntall the send for the gauge in the block and then we called it a night, now all I need to do is install the gauge and wire it all up. Here is a list of my plan for my car in order so far, if you have any input please post and let me know.

*Red denotes completed:

Plans For the RX7

remove a/c
install water temp sender
change oil
change coolant
new thermostat

install and wire water temp gauge
brakes
tires
shocks
springs
rear control arms (and bushings)

Also I have a question with this.

*When wiring up my new gauge where is the best place to run it through the fire wall, and will I be able to locate it just with taking off the radio and vent control surround, or will I need to remove more of the dash?

*Also, where is the best light wiring location for me to splice into for the backlight in my gauge.

Thanks

Jake

Howdy. When i did my gauges I spliced into the cigarette lighter wiring. I also fed the wires going into the engine bay through the hole for the steering column. Its a pretty simple job really. Don't forget to fuse the ignition wires

Why not? Its a precaution thats worth doing I think. Not that these gauges cause power surges a lot or anything

What kind of brakes you getting. I am rolling on Endless Brake pads and i love them even if they are $265 front and rear set. Great stopping power for daily driving and week end road course or drift racing. What kind of spring do you plan on getting too.

Hmmm, I was thinking about the Hawk HP plus brakes from Racing beat, and I really havnt decided on Springs yet....We shall see when the time comes. Though, if you like those brakes I may look into them.
