Question new to rx7's, have some q's hoping for a's

Hi there guyz,
Just bought my rx7 from my dad. Im LOVING it so far.
Im new to the rotary world. I understand the most comment aspect of "performance" mods. I have had 2 integras, and i know there are a couple of things to gain some hp out of em that cost little to no money. I know some things can be done to the rx in the same manner.

Q1 : I see peeps talking about a tb mod. What exactly is done in this process?

Q2 : Kinda in the same line.. I installed a HKS filter onto my car. I see on ebay they have an adapter for the intake, but im not understanding what it would be doing? What i did, is took off the stock intake box, and mounted the filter to the front of the mass air sensor. Is this wrong? Seems like i get a horrible "rattle" at high rpms. Almost seems like the "plunger" inside is slapping back and forth. It doesnt do it with the stock filter, nor no filter at all. I replace the foam on my filter, so its a brand new clean filter in it. That seemed to help out alot, but there is still kind of an annoying sound comming from it.

I appreciate any answers and you guyz will be hearing alot more from me soon.

ok, your car is a 90 i am assuming from your profile, that means you dont need the adaptor, the adaptor is for 86-88 cars... so as long as the hks filter fits tightly onto the front of the afm you should be fine... id imagine you want to fab up some kinda bracket to hold the afm / filter in place... and then build a cold air box... because it doesnt make any sense to put in a better filter and then have it suck in hot engine bay air

the tb mod has been covered many times, there is a search function in the upper right corner of the page, its really usefull... also read the faq at the top of the forum if you havent

about the sound, im not sure what would be causing it... unless its just that its shaking around... try holding it and having someone rev the engine up and see what happens

i would reccomend reliability mods before you get too involved with performance.

Thanks so far guys.
My intake is tied down. That was the first thing i thought of. Now here is the tricky part, it only makes that noise when there is a load on the motor, not just revving in neutral. As for a cold air box im about to buy a freshair headlight cover, and try to channel air to the filter more directly through that.

BTW, thanks for the brief english lesson... its much appreciated
