Alright. Off the bat, ill let you all know im new to Rx7s. My buddy has a 1990 Rx7 Gtu, and he said he'd sell it to me for less than he bought it for ($300). Alright, heres the problems with it.

- Doesnt go into 1st gear, and 2nd is starting to go.
-Crappy paint job (spray painted black stripes, looks haggard)
- Body needs some work.
- it was beat all the time on the weekends.
- Tail lights dont work. Guess some guys from best buy fucked up wiring when putting in a cd player or sumtin.
-Dash doesnt light up
- no radio

+ New tires
+ new exhaust
+ when it had 1st gear, that little thing went
+ alright spoiler on it
+ really cheap


Question. How much would you pay for this car, just from the description I gave you. He bought it when it had 1st gear, but when there was ice on the ground, he hit it , and then heard a clunk, and it never went back into 1st. What is this car worth? Is this worth buying for around 100-200 bucks?

Please dont hammer me, Sorry I dont know a lot on Rx's.

Well, its because I want one that bad. I didnt buy it yet, Just planning on it. When he had it nicer than it is now, I loved that car. And I still do. I have a friend that can install anything on the car, and he'd do it for free. I got enough cash to fix it up to get it running smoother.

Hmm, but how much would a new tranny be?

And also, what can i do to get those tail lights working. The wiring is messed up. I need to have tail lights working, otherwise i can only drive it during the day.

 

You can pick up a tranny very easily....just take a look in the for sale section. Also you might as well go for a t2 tranny swap with driveshaft and what not..I dont know if it will bolt up to the GTU rear end..I know they had a lsd but I dont know...anyways.... you will find a tranny for about 200 or less

 

So, then this is a good price hmmm. Idk, I'll try to get more info, and pics on the car, and ill post them here, and see what you guys think more about it.

as long as your getting a new tranny, you might want to read my thread about swapping in miata gears. personally, id never go back to stock ratios. just my $0.02
do the dash lights flicker, or are they just out?

 

its not the bulbs, its the wiring, and I guess he's tried gettin em re-wired , but he said its not worth it. He said get like a wire, and a switch with a bulb or something. idk.
